anene Lovullo, a native Californian, is an actress, singer and recording artist. Her Broadway and 1st National Tour credits include: CATS as Grizabella; Les Miserables as the Factory Girl and understudy to Fantine and Cosette; and The Pirates of Penzance as Isabel as well as understudy to Maureen McGovern’s Mabel.
Most recently Janene was awarded 2018 Best Actress in a Musical (Professional) by Broadway World Palm Springs for her portrayal of Margaret Johnson in The Light in the Piazza with Davis Gaines at the Helen Galen Performing Arts Center under direction of David Green. Other highlight performances include: The Stuntman’s Ball with J.K. Simmons honoring Burt Reynolds, Hall Needham and Bob Herron; The Vintage Master’s of Swing with Michael Feinstein, Tierney Sutton and Sue Raney; and Tradition, The Jewish Legacy of Broadway at the McCallum Theater, The Pantages Theater and for The Actor’s Fund on Broadway produced by Michael Childers.
Janene’s Cabaret shows in New York, Los Angeles and Palm Springs include: You’re My World; An Evening with Janene Lovullo and Christopher Marlowe and Janene Lovullo with Christopher Marlowe present: A Celebration of Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen, with a little bit of Christmas! Other performances include Great Expectations as Estella with Faith Prince at the Booth Theater in Pasadena and I Have Dreamed, her one woman show benefiting education for The Orangewood Children’s Foundation in Southern California. She has enjoyed singing with Italian international guitarist Peppino D’Agostino and has been a featured vocalist for the Capistrano Valley Symphony’s Broadway Under The Stars.
Other theatrical credits include West Side Story’s Maria at The Shrine Auditorium; Washington D.C.’s Woftrap Theater’s The Pirates of Penzance as Isabel; The Student Prince as Princess Margaret and Laughter, Love and Lunacy at Coachella Valley Repertory.
Janene has recorded three CD’s. Her two solo CD’s This Moment and Broadway Intimate were recorded and musically directed by longtime arranger and friend Christopher Marlowe at Capitol Records with recording master and Academy Award winner Dan Wallin as sound engineer along with film score composer and Grammy Nominee Tim Simonec as Lead Orchestrator. Margaret Martin’s Gone With The Wind was released in 2017 on London’s Stage Door Records CD Lost West End and showcased on Elaine Page’s BBC Radio 2 station.
Janene’s love of singing and performance easily transitioned into teaching voice and has done so for 20 years. She has taught hundreds of singers, many who have gone on to successful careers as independent recording artists.
